What is Occupational Health?
Here at GPT, we provide Occupational Health that includes return to work screenings, job site analysis, ergonomic assessments, work hardening, and of course physical therapy for work injuries.
Our return to work screenings are designed to assess employees and potential employees to determine if they have the strength/cardiovascular ability to perform job demands. Tests are designed by assessing the worksite and having discussions with employees to determine the job demands that fit with day-to-day activities at work.
Jobsite analysis is onsite work assessments which as described earlier, will help in determining the physical demands for job/recruitment. It also provides insight into potential injury risks!
Ergonomic Assessments are onsite work assessment evaluations in an office/workplace setting, to determine proper setup to provide decrease repetitive injury. For example, it can help determine the proper height of a chair for desk work, computer monitor height to limit neck strain, etc.
The process would start with an employee questionnaire of job duties and demands (i.e. weight lifted, heights of lifts, flights of stairs climbed each day) This allows us to focus on what to evaluate in the onsite analysis such as checking forces for pulling/pushing activity, the weight of objects lifted, the height of shelves/stairs/ladder, so we can provide a functional test that is comparable to a normal work environment.
With workplace injuries, clients always have a choice where to perform therapy, but of course, we recommend Gillette Physical Therapy. With our in-house medical providers, we are able to offer drug screens, DOT screens, and X-rays in one facility.
