Pediatric Rehab - Is It A Good Fit For Your Child?
Pediatric physical therapists typically treat children from the ages of newborn to 18 for a variety of conditions including bone/muscle issues, sports-related injuries, or brain, spine, or nerve issues.
Our Pediatric Physical Therapists, Christine Clouston, PT, DPT and Alicia Clouston, MPT, LAT, ATC, will also address conditions such as torticollis (tightness in the neck with infant only wanting to look one direction), developmental delays, or gait abnormalities such as toe walking, in-toeing with increased tripping and falling or children with flat feet or high arches.
Not every child will have a medical condition. They may just be missing gross motor milestones or have balance or gait issues. If you have concerns, an evaluation by our pediatric physical therapists will help determine if physical therapy is necessary to assist your child in achieving these developmental milestones and improving functional mobility and ambulation independently.
Signs that a PT evaluation may be needed for your child:
1. Infant turning head to only one side
2. Infant not sitting independently by 8 months
3. Infant not crawling by 12 months
4. Infant not pulling to stand by 12 months
5. Infant not walking by 14 months
6. Child toe-walking consistently
7. Child in-toeing with frequent tripping or falling
8. Child with flat feet or high arches complaining of foot, ankle, or knee pain.
