Prevent sore muscles during road trips!
Remember when you were a kid and your family went on a summer road trip every year? You would pack up into the car and go out on an adventure to see Yellowstone or the Grand Canyon and come back with amazing stories you would tell your classmates. Now that we’re older, road trips come with sore muscles and hurting backs. Here are some tips that will make your trips less of a pain:
Adjust your seat! Make sure your seat is close enough to the pedals and wheel that you don’t have to reach and adjust the seat to where it is parallel to the ground. This will help prevent shoulder strain, pressure behind the knees, and loss of blood flow to your legs!
Bring a pillow! If your seat does not adjust your lumbar support to where it hugs your lower back, insert a small pillow. This can also help improve your posture while driving.
Take breaks, don’t drive for longer than 2-3 hours at a time. Stop at rest stops and gas stations to give your body a break!
Stretch it out! During your rest stops be sure to stretch out your shoulders, neck, and legs to get your blood flowing!
Stay alert while driving. Don’t become distracted by your phone while on the road. Looking at your phone may seem like a way to pass the time, but it’s dangerous and also causes additional tension in your neck and shoulders!
